I expect to have occasional litters, but I do not accept orders in advance or keep a waiting list. Throughout all these years, I have never sold an 8-week-old puppy. Once the puppies are 12 weeks and began to grow, it is easier to see their potential and sort out puppies who might be pet quality.

As I have always bred dogs for my own pleasure and enjoyment, I have been interested in seeing how the puppies turn out and watching  them develop  Equally important to me is that people who are looking for a dog get exactly what they want – a show dog or a pet. I have always kept all dogs intended for breeding myself, and exported the rest to suitable homes elsewhere in the world provided that they have been of sufficient quality. The only dogs staying with other owners in Finland have been dogs whom they have had a hobby, be it showing, agility, obedience etc. This is because, a long time ago, in the 1980’s, I decided that I would not want to hear any lectures on how my dogs will “ruin” the Beagle stock in this country. Today’s instant fanciers seem to be happy to reap the benefits of someone else’s work without going through the learning process themselves. I say to them: good luck to you, the world is full of dogs and everyone can import their own breeding stock from wherever they want to as I have done.

In today’s environment, we hear so often how puppies are raised in the house and how they become well-adjusted, social animals. I have always taken this for granted. If puppies are sold at 8 weeks, where have they been until then? I do believe that there is a difference between breeding dogs and producing puppies.
